(670 The Score) New Bears head coach Ben Johnson has begun to fill out his staff by bringing a Lions assistant with him.
On Friday evening, the Bears were finalizing a deal to make Lions wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El their new assistant head coach/wide receivers coach, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported. Randle El, 45, is a local product who attended Thornton High School and had a nine-year NFL career before later entering the coaching ranks.
Randle El has been the wide receivers coach in Detroit for the past four years, working alongside Johnson, who joined the Bears after six seasons with the Lions.
Randle El wasn't Johnson's only addition to the staff Friday evening. The Bears are also set to hire former Packers defensive back and current Cowboys secondary coach Al Harris as their new secondary coach and will hire Lions assistant quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett as their new quarterbacks coach, Brad Biggs of the Tribune reported.
