Bears WR Allen Robinson is in concussion protocol

Robinson suffered the concussion during the fourth quarter of the Bears' loss Monday.

(670 The Score) The Bears could be without their top offensive playmaker this Sunday, as receiver Allen Robinson remains in the concussion protocol after departing in the fourth quarter of a 24-10 loss to the Rams in Los Angeles on Monday night.

Robinson won't practice with the Bears on Wednesday and can't return until he's medically cleared through the NFL's protocols. Robinson, 26, leads the Bears with 44 receptions for 544 yards and two touchdowns. His 543 scrimmage yards are also the most on the team through seven games.

The Bears' second-leading receiver is rookie Darnell Mooney, who has 236 yards and a touchdown on 21 receptions. If Robinson is unable to play against the Saints (4-2) on Sunday, the Bears could make second-year receiver Riley Ridley active for the first time this season.

The Bears are still waiting for more information on the status of center Cody Whitehair, who left with a calf injury Monday. Coach Matt Nagy indicated Whitehair's status is day-to-day for the time being, and he's hopeful the injury isn't serious.

Without Whitehair, the Bears would turn to second-year center Sam Mustipher, who made his NFL debut Monday night.

The Bears (5-2) will release their first formal injury report of the week Wednesday afternoon.
