(670 The Score) The hopes for a bounce-back season by Chase Claypool have hit an early snag.
The Bears placed Claypool on the physically-unable-to-perform list Sunday with an undisclosed injury. He is eligible to be activated at any point prior to the start of the regular season.
Claypool was sidelined during the end of the offseason program with a soft-tissue injury, though head coach Matt Eberflus declined to reveal specifics.
Acquired by the Bears in a trade Nov. 1, Claypool struggled to catch on in Chicago. He had just 14 receptions for 140 yards over seven games.
The Bears surrendered a second-round pick to the Steelers for Claypool. That selection became the No. 32 overall pick in this year's draft. The 25-year-old Claypool is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
Claypool had nine touchdowns as a rookie in 2020 but has scored just three times since.
The Bears report to training camp at Halas Hall on Tuesday and hold their first practice Wednesday morning.
