(670 The Score) Former Bears coach and Score football analyst Dave Wannstedt really liked what he saw from Chicago in its 23-17 win against Tennessee on Saturday in its preseason opener.
The Bears’ first-team offense scored touchdowns on both of its two possessions of action, but it was the smaller details that Wannstedt was most impressed by.
“I was impressed with the first offense and the first defense, when they went in there, it was a clean game,” Wannstedt said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Tuesday.
“What you want to come out of that first game with – which they did – is confidence from a players’ perspective, coaches and fans … I liked how they did it. It was high-percentage throws. You knew the offensive line was going to be successful. They felt good about it. We didn’t see penalties with the first group. We didn’t see turnovers. We didn’t see substitution (problems) … Those are the little things nobody talks about that help build a foundation.”
