(AUDACY) This is one of those scenarios where there isn't a correct answer. The Checkdown asked a variety of the rookie quarterbacks who were selected high in the NFL Draft recently what they believe their ratings will be in Madden NFL 22, and it was good entertainment.
The Jets' Zach Wilson predicted a 90 (!), while the 49ers' Trey Lance guessed an 88 and the Patriots' Mac Jones surmised he might be rated an 85. The Bears' Justin Fields had a more modest -- or realistic, to put it another way -- expectation, predicting he'll have a 78 to 81 rating on Madden entering his rookie season.
For what it's worth, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick in 2020, opened with a 76 rating in Madden NFL 20. So in general, the rookie quarterbacks are almost certainly overestimating how EA Sports will value them.
There isn't yet a release date for Madden NFL 22, but the game typically comes out in August. We don't yet know who the cover athlete will be, although NFL MVP runner-up Josh Allen is an interesting candidate. Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was on the cover of Madden NFL 18, but that, of course, was while he was playing for the New England Patriots, so he could be an option as well.
