DJ Moore doesn't think Sunday was Justin Fields' 'last rodeo' with Bears

(Audacy) Bears quarterback Justin Fields clearly is aware of the possibility that he might've played his final game with Chicago, but top receiver DJ Moore seems to believe that Fields will be back for the 2024 season.

The 24-year-old Fields' future is up in the air after the Bears went 7-10 in 2023. He has shown promise in his young career but hasn't cemented himself as a franchise quarterback. With the Bears owning the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft – a selection they own from their trade with the Panthers last March that also brought Moore to Chicago – it's possible they will go in a different direction at the position.

In his postgame press conference following the Bears' 17-9 loss to the Packers on Sunday, Fields offered plenty of thanks "in case this is my last rodeo" with the Bears. Moore responded to the remark Monday in his weekly appearance on the Mully & Haugh Show.

"I didn't even see that," Moore said. "His demeanor towards us wasn't any different, but I've got to go back and watch it. I don't think it's his last rodeo here, so I don't know why he said that. But if it is, he's a heck of a player and I love the guy.

"I don't think we would be talking about it if we didn't have the No. 1 overall pick. I think we're ninth right now by ourselves without the pick from Carolina, so I don't know if we'd be having the same conversation."

The 2024 quarterback draft class is a good one, headlined by USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye. The Bears own the top pick as well as their own selection at No. 9.

Moore is prepared to give any opinions the team might ask of him in his exit interviews, and if the question of quarterback comes up, he's ready to endorse the incumbent.

"I think they know that (I want Fields back) by now," Moore said. "I think the whole nation knows that."
