(670 The Score) On Friday, the Bears publicly acknowledged what many had assumed recently.
Their full focus is on Arlington Heights, not the city, as the site to build a new stadium. The Bears announced that after they'd explored the possibility of building a stadium on the lakefront for more than a year, only to run into roadblock after roadblock from state lawmakers who have no interest in helping fund a sports stadium. The Bears will instead move forward with their focus on the 326-acre Arlington Park property, which they purchased for $197.2 million.
In the mind of 670 The Score morning host David Haugh, it was long past time for the Bears to just get to work in Arlington Heights.
"This was plan A all along," he said.
"Why it has taken this long for that to become increasingly clear is the next phase of this story that needs to be examined.
"How much money did the Bears waste in waiting as long as they did to shift their focus back to Arlington Heights? This is the least surprising headline of a weekend. This should've happened a year ago. This never should've been delayed by the fascination with the lakefront."
