(104.3 The Score) The Bears' first injury report of the new season underscored optimism that wide receiver Rome Odunze avoided a serious injury.
Odunze was officially listed as limited on the Bears' injury report due to a calf injury. He limped off the practice field last Thursday with a lower leg injury, which struck fears he had re-aggravated a lingering foot injury from last season. After missing practice Monday and Tuesday, the Bears listed Odunze as limited for Wednesday.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson indicated the team was 'hopeful' that Odunze would be able to play Sunday's season opener with the Panthers in Charlotte. He was limited to 12 regular-season games last season.
The Bears also listed tackle Ozzy Trapilo (knee) as limited while backup quarterback Tyson Bagent (back) was listed as not practicing.
The Bears did not practice on Wednesday so their injury report was an estimation of a full practice. The team will reconvene for practice Thursday at Halas Hall.
The Bears kick off their season Sunday in Charlotte against the Panthers. Kickoff is set for noon CT from Bank of America Stadium.
