LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Before ever taking a snap in an NFL regular-season game, Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has earned a distinguished honor.
The 22-year-old Williams was named one of the Bears' eight team captains for this season, a recognition voted on by his teammates.
"He went out there and proved himself, took command of the offense, he started opening up," said wide receiver DJ Moore. "People saw that. We’re rocking with him."
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams was named the Bears' starting quarterback shortly after he was selected by Chicago in late April. He has led the first-team offense ever since he arrived at Halas Hall.
The Bears' other team captains are Moore, tight end Cole Kmet, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, linebacker T.J. Edwards, cornerback Jaylon Johnson, tight end Marcedes Lewis and safety Kevin Byard.
Moore and Edmunds were among the Bears' four team captains last season.
The Bears kick off the 2024 regular season Sunday at noon CT as they host the Titans at Soldier Field.
