(104.3 The Score) The Bears made a blockbuster addition Thursday, agreeing to a trade to acquire All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Titans, sources said.
The Bears will send their 2027 first-round pick, their 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Titans for Simmons, Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reported. The Bears will also receive a 2028 fifth-round pick in the trade.
Simmons, 29, is a four-time Pro Bowler who’s coming off a 2025 season in which he earned first-team All-Pro honors. He has 46.5 sacks over 106 games in eight NFL seasons, earning the reputation as one of the NFL's premier defensive linemen.
Simmons is under contract through 2030. He signed a three-year, $105.8-million contract extension in June, a deal that at the time represented the highest annual salary ever at his position.
The Bears (5-2) have been exploring opportunities to upgrade their team amid their strong start to the season. In particular, the Bears needed to improve a defense that ranks last in the NFL in allowing 6.3 yards per play. This trade marks the most ambitious swing made in general manager Ryan Poles’ five-year tenure in Chicago.
The Bears will visit the reigning champion Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
