(670 The Score) Bears head coach Ben Johnson operates with a deliberate philosophy: do it until it's done right. That seemed to be the case Friday night in the preseason finale.
The Bears' starting offense scuffled on three drives. So, Johnson sent that unit out for a fourth series -- marking the entire first half on the field. Quarterback Caleb Williams had already set his helmet down before Johnson called the starters back out.
Williams and the Bears' starters capped off their night against the Chiefs with a touchdown. He connected with wide receiver Rome Odunze for a three-yard score.
Williams was 5-of-6 for 73 yards on that final series, which went seven plays and 78 yards. He ended the night 11-of-15 for 113 yards and that touchdown. The Bears trailed the Chiefs 20-10 at halftime.
The Bears' first series on offense went three plays and out, set back by a fumbled exchange between Williams and wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus. Then, rookie tight end Colston Loveland committed a false start penalty.
Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 8-of-13 for 143 yards and a touchdown in leading through much of the first half.
Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent, who signed a two-year, $10-million extension on Wednesday, took over for Williams. He led his team from down 27-10 to win 29-27 over the Chiefs.
Bagent connected to undrafted rookie wide receiver Jahdae Walker for a go-ahead touchdown with three seconds left. The Bears scored 19 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
Bagent finished 20-of-28 for 212 yards and three touchdowns. The Bears' offense finished with 424 total yards of offense.
The Bears finished their preseason at 2-0-1, marking two wins in the span of six days.
The Bears are expected to begin cutting their roster to the 53-man limit this weekend ahead of the 3 p.m. CT deadline Tuesday afternoon.
