Blackhawks' Jeremy Colliton: Alex DeBrincat had 'elite two-way season'

DeBrincat, 23, had 32 goals in 52 games this season.

(670 The Score) Though they missed the playoffs, the Blackhawks believe they made progress in their 2021 season toward sustaining success once again. A key part of that future is 23-year-old forward Alex DeBrincat, who had 32 goals in 52 games.

Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton believes DeBrincat has already turned into a star and has even brighter days ahead, as he told the Mully & Haugh Show on Thursday morning.

"He had an excellent season, and I think he had an elite two-way season," Colliton said. "His play away from the puck was excellent. Obviously, his production is easy to point to. But a lot of that comes from how he plays away from it. You know, his pressure, his skating, his work ethic, his competitiveness.

"Very big positive and he's still -- '97 born."

A second-round pick of the Blackhawks in 2016, DeBrincat has quickly emerged as a core piece. He has 119 goals and 110 assists in 286 career NHL games.

The Blackhawks finished 24-25-7 in the shortened 56-game season. Listen to Colliton's full interview below.
