Blackhawks' Tyler Johnson expected to be out 3 months after neck surgery

(670 The Score) Blackhawks forward Tyler Johnson is expected to be out three months after undergoing neck surgery Friday, the team said.

Johnson, 31, hasn't played since late October. He has three points (one goal, two assists) in eight games this season.

"After trying to manage his neck pain conservatively for the past couple of weeks, Tyler underwent neck surgery today," team physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement. "The prognosis is good and his anticipated return to play is approximately three months."

Additionally, Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy has entered the concussion protocol.
