Reports: Marc-Andre Fleury informs Blackhawks he'll play for them in 2021-'22

Fleury had been weighing his professional future over the last several days after being traded to Chicago.

(670 The Score) After five days of uncertainty, the Blackhawks have clarity on their goaltending situation.

Reigning Vezina Trophy winner and newly acquired Marc-Andre Fleury has informed the Blackhawks he'll play for them in the 2021-'22 season, according to multiple reports Sunday morning. Upset by being traded away from the Vegas Golden Knights last Wednesday, the 36-year-old Fleury had been weighing his professional future for the past several days. On Sunday morning, the Blackhawks tweeted an emoji of a flower, which is Fluery's nickname.

Fleury had a 1.98 goals against average and .928 save percentage in 36 games last season. He's a five-time All-Star with a .913 save percentage in his 17-year NHL career. He's also a three-time Stanley Cup champion.

"The opportunity to acquire a Vezina-winning goaltender is rare and one you cannot pass up," Blackhawks president of hockey operations Stan Bowman said in a statement. "Marc-Andre improves our goaltending, strengthens our team defense and will have a huge impact on the overall development of the Blackhawks."
