Bulls' DeMar DeRozan has a grade-1 thigh strain, will likely be sidelined Wednesday

(670 The Score) An MRI revealed that Bulls star forward DeMar DeRozan has a grade-1 thigh strain, coach Billy Donovan told reporters Tuesday.

DeRozan is likely to be sidelined when Chicago plays at Indiana on Wednesday evening, as he isn't expected to travel with the team when it leaves on the trip later Tuesday, Donovan told reporters. DeRozan's status for the Bulls' home game against the Bucks on Thursday remains unclear, as the plan is for him get treatment over the next two days and then see how he feels.

"I don't think it's significant, but we'll see how he progresses and how he feels," Donovan said, according to NBC Sports Chicago. "He knows his body well. He's always very conscientious about taking care of it. We hope with treatment and how diligent he is, he'll progress. But there's enough discomfort there for him where he's having a hard time moving and cutting and jumping."

DeRozan checked himself out of the Bulls' 100-91 loss to the Magic with 1:02 remaining in the game Monday. He most recently had suffered from what the team called right hip soreness, which plagued him again Monday, but DeRozan also explained afterward that his right leg was giving him discomfort. He missed three games in January due to a right quad strain.

"It's a weird feeling," DeRozan said. "I've never felt nothing like this. Because when I'm sitting doing nothing, I don't feel anything. It's just when I do anything to work that muscle in my leg, it's just a lot of discomfort. I'm just trying to figure that out and get that situated the best I can."

The 33-year-old DeRozan also characterized his ailments as "bad."

DeRozan is averaging 25.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 50.7% in 53 games this season. He has also earned All-Star honors. As of late Monday night, DeRozan planned to play in the All-Star Game on Sunday in Utah despite his ailing hip and leg.
