(670 The Score) Bulls star DeMar DeRozan has been honored for brilliant play in February.
DeRozan was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month, the NBA announced Thursday. He averaged 34.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 13 games in February, over which he shot 55.2% overall and 40.0% on 3-pointers. DeRozan's scoring average was the highest in the East in February. The Bulls went 8-5 in the month and currently sit in second place in the East.
Included in DeRozan's strong performance was a record-setting stretch in which he had eight straight games with 35 or more points while shooting 50% or better, becoming the first player in NBA history to accomplish that feat for so long. Wilt Chamberlain had previously held that record with a stretch of six such games.
The Bulls (39-23) visit the Hawks on (29-32) on Thursday. The game can be heard on 670 The Score. Pregame starts at 5:45 p.m., with tip-off set for shortly after 6 p.m.
