Bulls' Lonzo Ball (knee) has progressed to light jogging, a 'little bit' of jumping while shooting

CHICAGO (670 The Score) – Bulls guard Lonzo Ball has made a small measure of progress recently as he continues his slow, gradual rehab after left knee surgery in late September.

Ball is on the court shooting regularly and jumping "a little bit" while doing that work, coach Billy Donovan said Friday evening before the Bulls hosted the Pistons at the United Center.

"He's been doing some light jogging and I think working through some of that stuff," Donovan said. "I think, like we last talked, it is progressing. It's just really slow. But there has definitely been some improvement. He's actually doing more physically than the last time we spoke (about him)."

Ball, 25, had an arthroscopic debridement procedure in late September. It marked the second surgery on his left knee in the past eight months and third operation on it in his professional basketball career. Ball hasn't played since last January, when he began experiencing knee pain.

There remains no timeline for Ball's return to full basketball activities or any assurance that he can return this season. Donovan has previously indicated there will be a thorough ramp-up process to get Ball back to game action if he does get fully medically cleared at some point this season.

Ball played in 35 games last season, averaging 13 points and 5.1 assists while also shooting 42.3% from 3-point range on high volume. He's the catalyst of the Bulls' transition game, a superb passer and a strong defender. The Bulls have felt his loss, struggling at 15-19 this season.
