(670 The Score) Bulls star guard Zach LaVine has been named one of the 57 finalists for Team USA's roster pool as it looks to select a squad for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo this summer.
This is another marking point in LaVine's rise after he recently was named an All-Star for the first time. He's having a career year in averaging 28.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
USA Basketball will cut its list of 57 players down to their 12-man roster by early summer, the Associated Press reported. There will be no tryouts for the squad, as the NBA season has been pushed back and there are COVID-19 challenges. The players will be chosen by a committee, the AP reported.
Team USA training camp is set to start in Las Vegas on July 2 while the NBA playoffs are still being conducted. The Olympics start July 23, and Team USA's first game there is set for July 25.
