(670 The Score) Bulls guard Zach LaVine's left knee health apparently isn't as good as he and the team hoped it would be at this time.
LaVine will miss Chicago's season opener at Miami on Wednesday evening due to left knee injury management, according to the NBA injury report. LaVine's status for Chicago's game at Washington on Friday is also up in the air.
LaVine had surgery on his left knee in May after he had lingering soreness and discomfort in it last season. LaVine sat out of the Bulls' preseason finale on Oct. 11 but had been a regular participant in practice throughout training camp and expressed confidence in his health last Friday.
"The main thing is I'm healthy and I feel really good and I'm getting to know the new offense and new team," LaVine told reporters. "Not having any aches and pains and being able to play without any limitations in my own mind is huge."
LaVine has earned All-Star honors in each of the past two seasons. He averaged 24.4 points on 47.6% shooting last season. He also signed a five-year, $215-million max contract with the Bulls over the summer.
