(670 The Score) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and catcher Willson Contreras exchanged words in a heated argument in the dugout in Chicago's 8-5 loss at San Francisco on Friday night.
The spat was shown on the television broadcast after the end of the seventh inning, and manager David Ross helped separate the two, putting his hand on Rizzo's chest to push him to the other side of the dugout. It wasn't immediately clear what the two were upset about, and the Cubs didn't specify during postgame interviews, instead downplaying the argument.
"That's just part of the family atmosphere you get in baseball, guys competing at the highest level and trying to continue to fight," Ross said, according to the Associated Press. "Sometimes you're not going to see eye to eye. We've got a close-knit group. I don't think it's anything that's a huge deal or anything I'm extremely worried about."

Rizzo echoed that sentiment while not offering details on the source of the argument.
"I love Willson," Rizzo said, according to the Associated Press. "The way he plays for this team, for our city, you can't match it in this league. It's just one of those incidents. In any working environment, you're going to run into things here and there. It happened, it was on television unfortunately, but it's easy for us to move on."
After winning nine of 10 games, the Cubs have lost two straight. At 32-25, the Cubs hold a one-game lead over the second-place Brewers in the NL Central.
