Cubs Convention set for January cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns

(670 The Score) The annual Cubs Convention has been cancelled in 2022 due to the organization taking a high degree of caution amid the COVID-19 pandemic, marking the second straight year it won't be held due to health concerns.

The event is typically held in mid-January and has been held at the Sheraton Grand Chicago in recent years.

"We didn't think it was prudent to have 10,000 people in a convention hall in the middle of the winter, when the event isn't critical or material to the baseball season," Cubs senior vice president of communications Julian Green said.

The Cubs hope to hold a virtual event sometime this winter that will include player involvement.
