Cubs' Jason Heyward Progressing Through Tests

Heyward suffered from shortness of breath and dizziness Sunday.

(670 The Score) Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward's health remains a bit of a mystery after he exited his team's game Sunday with shortness of breath and dizziness.

Heyward was taken to the hospital for an evaluation Sunday night and released. Heyward has had a battery of tests administered over the past few days and is still at less than 100%. He's out of the Cubs' lineup for the second straight day Tuesday, when they're set to host the Reds at Wrigley Field.

"He is finishing up tests and passing all of them this morning," manager David Ross said late Tuesday afternoon. "All of the tests have seemed to come back clear. He is going for one more today to get cleared.

"I talked to him this morning. He is still feeling a little bit fatigued. I will stay away from using him at the start of the game, for sure. I don't know what it is. I don't know if the doctors exactly know what it is. The concern is that Jason doesn't feel quite like himself and we not knowing exactly what it is. Let's just be patient, and I will update you if there is anything concerning."

Heyward, 31, has been one of the Cubs' best players in this truncated season, hitting .300 with a .955 OPS and playing his usual superb defense.

In other injury news, the Cubs shared a good report on left-hander Jose Quintana as he works back from a sore lat in his throwing arm. Quintana began throwing again Tuesday, and Ross indicated he could return soon.

Does that mean as soon as when the Cubs host the Brewers this weekend?

"I don't know," Ross said. "I would love to tell the Brewers everything about who is or is not available. I think the speculation is probably right."

Right-hander Tyler Chatwood (forearm strain) has also begun throwing and "is just getting stretched out," Ross said.
