(670 The Score) Cubs star Kris Bryant continues to lead all National League third basemen in the second returns of All-Star voting, which were revealed Monday.
Bryant has earned 29% of the vote, outpacing the Cardinals' Nolan Arenado, who has 15%. Bryant is hitting .279 with 13 homers, 39 RBIs and an .877 OPS in 66 games.
Several other Cubs are in the All-Star mix but not leading at their respective positions. Javier Baez is second among NL shortstops, earning 15% of the vote but trailing Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. (36%) by a wide margin.
Anthony Rizzo (15%) is third among NL first basemen, trailing the Dodgers' Max Muncy (22%). Willson Contreras (13%) is third among NL catchers, where the Giants' Buster Posey (30%) leads. Nico Hoerner is fourth at second base and Joc Pederson is seventh among outfielders.
The top three vote-getters at each position -- the top nine for outfielders, who are grouped together -- will advance to the second phase of voting, which will determine the starters for the All-Star Game. Voting resets ahead of the second phase.
Fans determine the position player starters. Pitchers and reserves are selected by players and the MLB commissioner's office.
The MLB All-Star Game will be held July 13 at Coors Field in Denver.
