(670 The Score) Already dealing with illness, Cubs star Kris Bryant got banged up too Wednesday.
After exiting mid-game in the Cubs' loss to the Indians on Tuesday because he was "under the weather," as the team said, Bryant was out of the starting lineup in the series finale a day later. But he was called upon to pinch-hit in a key spot in the seventh inning, only to promptly be hit on the left wrist by a pitch from Indians reliever Cal Quantrill.
Bryant grimaced in pain and promptly exited the game. He suffered a left wrist contusion, manager David Ross said later after the Cubs lost 2-1 in 10 innings. Due to Bryant's illness, Ross had already planned on pinch-running for Bryant regardless of the hit by pitch, he said. The Cubs have an off day Thursday before facing the Tigers on Friday, when they'll further evaluate Bryant's health.
Bryant entered the day hitting .308 with nine homers, 22 RBIs and a 1.046 OPS in his first 33 games.
