(670 The Score) The Cubs' Kris Bryant leads all National League third basemen in the first return of All-Star balloting.
Bryant has drawn 502,970 votes, which is good for 29% of the votes at the position. Bryant has a healthy lead, as the Cardinals' Nolan Arenado checks in next at 14%.
Bryant is having a great season, hitting .297 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs. His .931 OPS ranks fifth in the NL and is the best mark among NL third basemen. Bryant was an All-Star in 2015, 2016 and 2019.
Bryant is a third baseman on the All-Star ballot, but he has been as versatile as ever this season. He has started 36 games in the outfield, 15 at first base and eight at first base as the Cubs have moved him around while dealing with injuries.
The Cubs' Javier Baez is second among NL shortstops, but he faces a large deficit. Baez has garnered 13% of the vote, while Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. leads with 40%.
The Cubs' Anthony Rizzo is third among NL first basemen, checking in at 12% behind the Dodgers' Max Muncy (23%) and Braves' Freddie Freeman (16%). Cubs catcher Willson Contreras also is third at his position, with 11% of the vote to trail the Giants' Buster Posey (30%) and the Cardinals' Yadier Molina (16%).
Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner, who's currently on the injured list, checked in at fourth in the NL at his position.
The MLB All-Star Game will be held July 13 at Coors Field in Denver.
