Chicago activated right-hander Kyle Hendricks, right-hander Cody Heuer, right-hander Ethan Roberts, outfielder Jason Heyward and outfielder Rafael Ortega off the 60-day injured list.
Right-hander Alec Mills left-hander Brad Wieck were also activated off the 60-day injured list. Those two and infielder David Bote, left-hander Steven Brault, outfielder Narciso Crook, right-hander Anderson Espinoza and outfielder/designated hitter Franmil Reyes were all then outrighted to Triple-A Iowa after they cleared waivers.
The Cubs' 40-man roster sits at 36 players.
