(670 The Score) The Cubs have placed infielder Nico Hoerner on the 10-day injured list with what the team termed a mild to moderate strain of his left hamstring.
Hoerner suffered the injury while running out a bunt in the sixth inning of Chicago's 4-3 win at Pittsburgh on Tuesday evening. Hoerner is having a strong season, hitting .338 with an .837 OPS in 21 games while playing superb defense.
In corresponding moves, the Cubs selected 30-year-old outfielder Rafael Ortega from Triple-A Iowa and designated right-hander Shelby Miller for assignment.
Ortega is hitting .250 with an .818 OPS in 16 games at Triple-A this season. He has appeared in 143 career games across parts of four MLB seasons with four different organizations. Miller had struggled for the Cubs, allowing seven runs in two innings of work.
