Mully & Haugh: Cubs' sweep of AL East-leading Orioles shows how good they can be
(670 The Score) With the All-Star break nearly upon us, the Cubs are playing their best baseball of the year.
The Cubs had their best series of the season by sweeping the AL East-leading Orioles in Baltimore this week, a series that ended with Chicago rolling to an 8-0 win Thursday. The Cubs outscored the Orioles by a 21-2 margin across three games to improve to 45-49.
"I don't think in my wildest dreams I thought they would go into Baltimore and get a sweep," Score morning host Mike Mulligan said.
"It was dominant," co-host David Haugh said. "It's the kind of series that you can use and point to as this is how good you can be. This is what happens when you play up to your level of competition. Don't play down to it. Just focus and play good baseball."
The Cubs now sit three games back of the final wild-card spot in the National League.
"That was a statement that maybe they aren't done yet," Haugh said.
