(670 The Score) The Cubs on Friday made their first round of cuts from their spring training roster, reassigning 22 players to minor league camp.
Right-hander Cory Abbott, right-hander Tyson Miller and right-hander Kohl Stewart were optioned to Triple-A Iowa, while right-hander Manuel Rodriguez, catcher Miguel Amaya and infielder Christopher Morel were optioned to Double-A Tennessee.
Additionally, 16 non-roster invitees were assigned to minor league camp: right-hander James Bourque, right-hander Juan Gamez, right-hander Jake Jewell, right-hander Tommy Nance, right-hander Michael Rucker, right-hander Robert Stock, left-hander Brendon Little, left-hander Jerry Vasto, catcher Taylor Gushue, catcher Tyler Payne, infielder Abiatal Avelino, infielder Alfonso Rivas, infielder Chas Strumpf, infielder Andy Weber, infielder Patrick Wisdom and outfielder Brennen Davis.
The Cubs' spring roster now sits at 51 players.
