(670 The Score) Cubs right-hander Yu Darvish has been named a National League Cy Young finalist, the Baseball Writers' Association of America announced Monday.
Darvish was 8-3 with a 2.01 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 12 starts. It's the first time Darvish has been named a Cy Young finalist since 2013, when he earned the honor while with the Rangers. The Reds' Trevor Bauer and the Mets' Jacob deGrom were the other two finalists.
Additionally, the Cubs' David Ross was named one of three finalists for the NL Manager of the Year award. He led the Cubs to a 34-26 record and the NL Central crown in his rookie season in the dugout. The Marlins' Don Mattingly and the Padres' Jayce Tingler were the other two finalists.
MLB awards will be revealed by the BBWAA next week. The Rookie of the Year winners will be announced on Nov. 9, the Manager of the Year winners on Nov. 10, the Cy Young winners on Nov. 11 and the MVP winners on Nov. 12.
