(670 The Score) Cubs right-hander Yu Darvish has been named the National League Pitcher of the Month, MLB announced Wednesday.
Darvish was 5-0 with a 1.09 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 33 innings across five starts in August. He walked just seven batters in that stretch. Darvish compiled a 1.3 WAR in August, which was tied for the most among pitchers, according to MLB.com.
Darvish is the first Cub to earn Pitcher of the Month honors since left-hander Cole Hamels did so in August 2018.
