(670 The Score) The Cubs are worth an estimated $3.8 billion, according to new valuations released by Forbes on Thursday.
That's the fourth-highest value of any MLB team. It's also a 13% year-over-year increase from 2021, when the Cubs were worth more than $3.3 billion, according to Forbes.
The Yankees remain MLB's most valuable franchise, as they're worth an estimated $6 billion. The Dodgers ($4.075 billion) and Red Sox ($3.9 billion) round out the top three.
The news of the Cubs' estimated value comes as the Ricketts family, their owners, have placed a bid to purchase Chelsea FC of the Premier League. That bid has faced a good deal of resistance, so much that the family released a statement denouncing racism. Family patriarch Joe Ricketts made Islamophobic comments in emails that came to light three years ago.
The Jerry Reinsdorf-owned White Sox are MLB's 15th-most valuable franchise, according to Forbes. They're worth an estimated $1.76 billion, up 4% in the past year.
