MRI reveals Cubs left-hander Justin Steele's forearm injury isn't serious

(670 The Score) An MRI revealed that Cubs left-hander Justin Steele's left forearm discomfort isn't a serious injury.

Steele has soreness in the forearm, but the issue isn't expected to linger and is considered minor, sources said. Steele will likely miss his scheduled start against the Angels next Tuesday as he works with the medical and training staffs to get back in top condition.

Steele exited early from the Cubs' 4-3 loss to the Rays on Wednesday, leaving after the third inning. He had retired all nine Rays batters he faced but had been stretching out his forearm throughout his outing.

Steele is having a stellar season, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 12 starts. He has struck out 58 batters and walked just 16 in 68 innings.
