(670 The Score) It's getting ugly for the Cubs.
After being swept by the Angels on Thursday, the Cubs are riding a four-game losing streak and have dropped to 26-36. They're also 7.5 games behind the NL Central-leading Brewers. While no one expected the Cubs to be championship contenders in 2023, team officials did share their desire to compete at a higher level and be a factor in the division race. But after a solid start for the Cubs, that hasn't been the case.
"Their season is headed south, and it's very familiar and it's very frustrating," 670 The Score morning host David Haugh said Friday. "Because I thought it wasn't going to be this way this year. We spent the entire spring training and offseason celebrating the fact that they spent the money -- $300 million.
Hello Dansby Swanson. He's been good. I think he's been better than good, but they don't have a consistent power hitter in the lineup. They don't have a bullpen you can trust."
The Cubs open a series at the San Francisco Giants on Friday evening. Pregame coverage will start at 8:40 p.m. on 670 The Score.
