(670 The Score) The Cubs acquired lefty reliever Josh Osich from the Red Sox before the trade deadline passed Monday afternoon.
The Cubs will send a player to be named later or cash consideration back to the Red Sox. To back room on the 40-man roster for Osich, the Cubs designated infielder Hernan Perez for assignment.
Osich, 31, has a 5.74 ERA in 13 appearances across 15 2/3 innings this season. He had a 4.66 ERA in 57 appearances for the White Sox in 2019. He has a 4.95 ERA across six MLB seasons.
Osich has held left-handed batters to a .231 batting average this year. He has limited lefties to a .211 batting average and .665 OPS in his career.
Earlier Monday, the Cubs agreed to acquire lefty reliever Andrew Chafin from the Diamondbacks. Chicago also added first baseman/outfielder/designated hitter Jose Martinez in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
