Bob Nightengale: Chris Getz would be most powerful figure in a potential White Sox front office tandem with Dayton Moore

(670 The Score) If the White Sox decide to install Chris Getz and Dayton Moore as their tandem to lead the front office, Getz would be the "single decision-maker" leading the way, USA Today writer Bob Nightengale said, to use the phrase the team announced its looking for.

The 39-year-old Getz currently holds the title of assistant general manager/player development for the White Sox, while the 56-year-old Moore is a senior advisor for the Rangers after serving as the Royals' lead baseball executive from 2006-'22. The two are "very close," Nightengale said. The two are the front-runners to be the next leaders of the White Sox, Nightengale reported Wednesday morning.

"It would definitely be Getz (in charge)," Nightengale said on the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Wednesday afternoon. "Getz is guy that's been in the organization. He's the guy that Jerry Reinsdorf knows. I'm sure Jerry Reinsdorf knows Dayton Moore, but not like Chris Getz. The Moore component is simply because of Getz. It's not like he's hiring Moore on his own and Getz would be out. Dayton Moore would be working for Chris Getz.

"Once Getz gets that job, he knows that Dayton Moore is going to come with him."

The White Sox fired longtime executive vice president Ken Williams and general manager Rick Hahn on Tuesday.
