CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- White Sox rookie outfielder Eloy Jimenez was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday and will miss at least two weeks with a high right ankle sprain.
"He is getting treatment and will be re-evaluated in two weeks," manager Rick Renteria said.
"After that, we will see where he is at."
The team didn't offer any information about the severity of the injury or a more definitive timeline for Jimenez's return. Jimenez's right foot hit the left-field wall with full force Friday evening as he chased after a home run off the bat of Tigers catcher Grayson Greiner. After laying on the warning track for a few minutes, Jimenez was assisted into the clubhouse by trainers.
Jimenez wasn't sure how much time he would miss.
"I feel pretty good," Jimenez said "I feel a little bit of pain. They told me we are going to work on getting better day by day."
Jimenz, 22, had returned to the team after missing three games on the bereavement list due to the passing of his grandmother a week ago. He's hitting .241 with thee home runs and eight RBIs in 21 games.
The always-affable Jimenez was feeling optimistic about returning to the team soon.
"The first day, I couldn't even walk," he said. "Now I feel better. I can walk better. The pain is not as bad now. Just a little bit."
Icing the foot consistently is the present course of treatment for the injury. Jimenez is also wearing a boot to stabilize the foot when he walks.
Jimenez said he watched a replay of his accident and would prefer not to see it again. He said he'll be offering support to his teammates while he's recovering.
He shrugged off a question about his rash of injuries so far in his young career.
"That is just part of the game," he said. "That is how I see it. If God let it happen, it is OK for me."
Jimenez signed a six-year, $43-million contract extension in March that includes two club options as well.
