(670 The Score) White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez is out of the team's lineup against the Cubs on Friday evening as he deals with a mid-right foot sprain.

Jimenez suffered the injury while sliding and later exited the game in a loss to the Indians on Thursday. He's considered day-to-day but is likely to miss the entire three-game series against the Cubs this weekend, according to reports, as the start of the playoffs loom next week. Jimenez is having a strong season, hitting .296 with 14 homers, 41 RBIs and an .891 OPS in 55 games.

Adam Engel will start in left field in Jimenez's place Friday.

In other news, the White Sox activated reliever Evan Marshall from the injured list. He had been suffering from right shoulder inflammation. Marshall has a 2.49 ERA in 22 appearances this season. Chicago optioned reliever Jose Ruiz to its alternate camp at Schaumburg in a corresponding roster move.
