(670 The Score) White Sox first baseman and reigning American League MVP Jose Abreu remains away from the team's spring training site in Arizona due to a positive test for COVID-19, general manager Rick Hahn told reporters Wednesday.
Abreu, 34, is asymptomatic and believes he contracted a mild case of the virus in January, which was reinforced with antibody testing recently.
"Other than being frustrated, Jose feels great and, like the rest of us, is looking forward to when he rejoins the club in the not too distant future," Hahn said in a statement.
Abreu hit .317 with 19 home runs and 60 RBIs in the abbreviated 2020 season to win his first MVP award.
