(670 The Score) White Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito and Cubs outfielder Ian Happ will soon partake in a showdown against other big leaguers.
It will just be of the virtual variety.
Giolito and Happ will represent their organizations in an MLB The Show video game league that will feature players from all 30 teams, the league announced Friday. Players will partake in a 29-game regular season in a league that was organized after talks between MLB, the MLB Players Association and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Those three parties will donate $5,000 to each participating player's Boys & Girls Club's affiliate in the local community. Another $25,000 will be donated to the winning player's charity.
The virtual competition begins Friday night and runs through May 2, when the World Series is set to be played.
