Reports: Reliever John Brebbia joins White Sox on 1-year deal

(670 The Score) The White Sox added to their bullpen Saturday.

Reliever John Brebbia has agreed to a one-year, $5.5-million contract with Chicago, according to multiple reports. The deal is pending a physical. The contract will pay $4 million to Brebbia in 2024 and also includes a $6-million mutual option for the 2025 season with a $1.5-million buyout.

Brebbia, 33, had a 3.99 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 40 appearances for the Giants in 2023, when he also struck out 11.0 batters per nine innings. Brebbia has a 3.42 career ERA across six MLB seasons.

Under the direction of new general manager Chris Getz, the White Sox have made a series of moves related to their pitching staff in the past few months. They signed starters Erick Fedde and Chris Flexen and traded for starters Michael Soroka and Jared Schuster. Chicago also signed lefty reliever Tim Hill in another bullpen addition.
