(670 The Score) The White Sox have acknowledged it's a balancing act between monitoring the workload of a few ailing star players and pushing for home-field advantage in the first round of the MLB playoffs as the regular-season winds down.
In the latest development of the plan they've formulated to best position themselves for the playoffs, the White Sox intend to start left-hander Carlos Rodon two more times in the regular season, James Fegan of the Athletic and Scott Merkin of MLB.com reported Thursday.
Rodon's next start will come in the White Sox's series against the Tigers next week. Chicago visits Detroit for a three-game set beginning Monday. The vision is for him to then start once more in the final week of the regular season.

Rodon has had extended rest between starts recently as he has dealt with should fatigue. He also spent more than two weeks on the injured list in August. Rodon last pitched Friday, throwing five innings of one-run ball while striking out seven. He hasn't thrown more than 89 pitches in a start since mid-July as the White Sox have worked to keep him fresh and healthy. When he takes the mound next week, he'll have had at least nine days of rest between starts.
Rodon, 28, is 12-5 with a 2.38 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 22 starts here in 2021. His 124 2/3 innings are his most since 2016, when he threw 165 innings.
