(670 The Score) The White Sox have claimed right-hander Parker Markel off waivers from the Athletics, they announced Wednesday afternoon. They also optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Markel, 31, has a 6.84 ERA in 23 appearances across two MLB seasons. He had thrown three scoreless innings for Oakland this season. Markel also has a 1.89 ERA in 17 relief appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas this season.
The Athletics on Tuesday designated Markel for assignment. The Rays took Markel in the 39th round of the 2010 MLB amateur draft.
