(670 The Score) White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez's injury rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte has been stalled as he works his way back from a torn hamstring tendon behind his right knee.
The White Sox are halting Jimenez's rehab assignment after he encountered what the team called "normal leg soreness," the Athletic reported Thursday. With that move, Jimenez must now be inactive for at least five days. The White Sox's intention is for Jimenez to begin a new rehab assignment next week, perhaps as early as Tuesday. He'll remain in Charlotte for the time being as he rests over the five-day period.
The White Sox had previously hoped that Jimenez could return to the big league club as early as next week, but that won't be the case now. He has been out since suffering the injury in a game on April 23 while running out a groundball.
Jimenez, 25, is hitting .222 with one homer, seven RBIs and a .590 OPS in 11 games this season. When healthy, he has been productive, averaging 37 homers per 162 games in his injury-plagued MLB career.
