White Sox invite 21 non-roster players to spring training

The group was headlined by top prospect Andrew Vaughn.

(670 The Score) Top prospect Andrew Vaughn highlighted the list of 21 non-roster players whom the White Sox have invited to spring training.

Vaughn, 22, is a first baseman by trade who's expected to compete for the starting designated hitter role in spring training. He worked at the team's alternate camp in 2020, when the pandemic led to the cancellation of the minor league season. The White Sox selected Vaughn at No. 3 overall in the 2019 amateur draft.

Right-hander Danny Dopico, right-hander Kade McClure, right-hander Emilio Vargas, left-hander Bennett Sousa, catcher Carlos Perez and infielder Zach Remillard joined Vaughn as the non-roster players already within the White Sox's system to receive invites to big league camp.

Here's the rest of the White Sox's non-roster invitees:

Right-hander Ryan Burr, right-hander Tayron Guerrero, right-hander Alex McRae, right-hander Felix Paulino, right-hander Connor Sadzeck, right-hander Mike Wright, left-hander Jacob Lindgren, left-hander Kodi Medeiros, left-hander Matt Tomshaw, catcher Jonathan Lucroy, infielder Tim Beckham, infielder Marco Hernandez, infielder Matt Reynolds and outfielder Nick Williams.

Pitchers and catchers report to camp next Wednesday, while position players follow on Feb. 22.
