(670 The Score) There's no word on if the ghost of Shoeless Joe Jackson will emerge from the cornfields in Dyersville, Iowa on Thursday, but we do know that White Sox ace Lance Lynn will be the man on the mound for Chicago in the made-for-television "Field of Dreams" game.
Lynn will start against the Yankees after left-hander Carlos Rodon on Wednesday was placed on the 10-day injured list with fatigue in his throwing shoulder. Lynn had been scheduled to start against the Twins on Wednesday but was pushed back a day to fill the slot of Rodon, who had been lined up for Thursday.
"It should be fun," said Lynn, an Indiana native. "Any time you are playing the Yankees anywhere and particularly in a place like this, it should be a fun night.
"Being a Midwest kid, that movie was cool growing up. But half the team here are probably too young to realize what the movie was about. For us older guys, it might have a little more meaning to be a part of something like this. That was certainly one of the movies you (enjoyed) growing up."

Lynn, 34, is on pace to have the best season of his career, going 10-3 with an MLB-best 2.04 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in 20 starts.
White Sox manager Tony La Russa will also miss the "Field of Dreams" game to attend the funeral services in Florida of his sister's husband. Bench coach Miguel Cairo will manage the team in place of La Russa.
"I told him to run things the same way we always do," La Russa said. "He has (pitching coach) Ethan (Katz) and (bullpen coach) Curt Hasler. You also have (catching instructor) Jerry Narron with all of that experience to turn to. I guarantee no one will be more prepared for that game than he will."
