(670 The Score) The White Sox landed the No. 5 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft as the lottery was conducted at the Winter Meetings on Tuesday afternoon.

At 61-101, the White Sox had the fourth-worst record in MLB in 2023 but fell one spot from the pre-lottery order when the Guardians and Reds jumped them while the Royals fell behind them. The White Sox entered the day with a 14.7% chance to land the No. 1 pick, which the Guardians instead grabbed by capitalizing on their 2.0% chance.

The top six spots in the draft are awarded via the lottery process. Under MLB rules, the White Sox won't be eligible to land a top-six lottery pick in 2025 because teams that don't receive revenue-sharing payments can't land lottery picks in back-to-back seasons.

The Cubs landed the No. 14 pick in the MLB Draft after their 83-79 season. They had a 0.4% chance to get the No. 1 pick.
