(670 The Score) Manager Tony La Russa's entire staff will return for the 2022 season, general manager Rick Hahn said Friday.
While the White Sox will have plenty of continuity in bringing back familiar faces, there will be turnover at one key position. Director of strength and conditioning Allen Thomas won't have his contract renewed, Hahn said. Thomas had been in his role with the White Sox for the past 18 seasons.
In what was a formality, Hahn simultaneously confirmed that La Russa will be back for 2022. That was fully expected and La Russa had recently confirmed that himself, but Hahn hadn't expressed that publicly until Friday, which marked his first media session since the White Sox were eliminated by the Astros in four games in the American League Division Series.
La Russa's main right-hand men are bench coach Miguel Cairo, pitching coach Ethan Katz and hitting coach Frank Menechino.
