(670 The Score) The White Sox have placed right-hander Michael Kopech on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, they announced Monday. The move is retroactive to Friday.
Kopech suffered the injury while falling awkwardly on the mound in a loss last Thursday. He then went on the bereavement list as he tended to a personal matter before being transferred to the injured list.
Kopech has been sensational this season, posting a 1.78 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 30 1/3 innings. He has primarily worked out of the bullpen while also making three spot starts.
In a corresponding move, Chicago recalled right-hander Jimmy Lambert from Triple-A Charlotte to serve as the team's 27th man in a doubleheader at Cleveland on Monday. Lambert is scheduled to start in the nightcap. He has a 7.71 ERA in five starts for Charlotte this season.
