(Audacy) Legendary Bears quarterback Jim McMahon was one of the NFL’s biggest stars in the 1980s, and that came with its perks: endorsement deals, appearances on late-night TV and hanging out at the Playboy Mansion.

On Wednesday, McMahon recalled some of his visits to the Playboy Mansion during an appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” after the show flashed a photo of him and Hugh Hefner sitting atop a red sports car.

“That was actually a pretty fun day at the Playboy Mansion,” McMahon said. “Mr. Hefner thought I got screwed on MVP voting, so he gave me a car himself. Had a nice time at the mansion, got to go back a couple times with my buddy Bruce Willis. We watched the Tommy Hearns and I think Sugar Ray (Leonard) fight back in the day. Had some good times there back in the day.”

McMahon never really had a true MVP-caliber season. His best campaign was the memorable 1985 season in which he went 11-0 as a starter and helped lead the Bears to a Super Bowl victory.

McMahon threw for just 2,392 yards (20th in the league) and 15 touchdowns (19th in the league) in 1985 and did make the Pro Bowl. Marcus Allen won MVP that year, while McMahon’s teammate, Walter Payton, was the runner-up.

Despite no MVP, McMahon got a nice car out of it and surely had good times at the Playboy Mansion with his pal Willis.
